ÖZETAlzheimer, tıbbı yönlerinin yanı sıra psikososyal boyutuyla da önemli bir hastalığı işaret etmektedir. Alzheimer ayrıca sinsi ve ilerleyici yapısıyla hastalar ve daha da önemlisi hasta yakınları için oldukça zorlayıcı bir hastalıktır. Bu çalışmada, Alzheimer hastalarının yakınlarının yaşadıkları psikolojik sorunlar, kendisi de Alzheimerlı hasta yakını olan bir sosyal hizmet akademisyeni tarafından ortaya konulmuştur. Ayrıca çalışmada, hasta yakınlarını rahatlatmaya yönelik çözüm önerileri de sunulmuştur. Bu yönüyle çalışma, hem akademisyen hem de hasta yakını gözüyle hastalığı ele alan ilk bilimsel çalışma olma niteliğindedir.

ABSTRACT
Besides its medical aspects. Alzheimer indicates an important disease in terms of its psychosocial aspect. Moreover, with is insidious and progressive charecteristics Alzheimer has a stringent impact on the patients and more importantly their relatives. In this study, psychosocial problems of the relatives of Alzheimer patients had been explored by an academician of social work who himself is a close relative to a patient of the same disease. Additionally, this study provides some solutions for relieving the patients relatives. In this respect, this study bares the charecteristic of showing both the perspectives of patients relatives and academicians at the same time on the subject.
